The recipient of the award will receive a grant to be applied toward the stipend paid by Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals.
Applicants will be allowed to apply for a grant for a second year. Each recipient of the DeBakey Society Fellowship will be expected to actively participate in clinical and/or basic research while in Houston. Ample opportunity to participate in the care of surgical patients is available.
Applicants must have completed a general surgical residency and must have passed the ECFMG or any other certifying examinations and prerequisites necessary to obtain a temporary license to practice medicine in Texas.
To apply for the Fellowship, a letter of support from the applicant's program director, documents confirming applicant's eligibility for an institutional or temporary Texas license to practice medicine and a current photograph of the applicant should be submitted to the Office of the Secretary.
